  • Torque wrenchRequired
  • Jack and jack standsFor vehicle support
  • Cutting toolFor plastic trim removal
  • HelperRequired - bumper weighs 120 lbs

Installation Steps

1

Remove Factory Bumper

Disconnect battery negative terminal. Remove plastic bumper cover and factory steel bumper assembly.

Save factory hardware - some bolts may be reused for new bumper installation.

Safety: Use jack stands to support vehicle. Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack.
2

Prepare Frame Mounting Points

Frame mounting

Clean frame rails where new bumper will mount. Remove any rust or debris.

Test fit brackets: Position mounting brackets on frame rails to verify alignment before final installation.

3

Install Mounting Brackets

Attach mounting brackets to frame rails using provided hardware. Hand-tighten bolts only at this stage.

Alignment is critical: Ensure brackets are level and properly positioned before tightening.

4

Position Bumper

Bumper positioning

With your helper, lift bumper and align with mounting brackets. Bumper weighs approximately 120 lbs - use proper lifting technique.

Center bumper: Equal spacing on driver and passenger sides. Check alignment from multiple angles.

5

Secure and Torque

Final installation

Attach bumper to mounting brackets. Tighten all bolts in cross pattern.

Torque to specification: Follow manufacturer torque specs (typically 75-90 ft-lbs for frame bolts).

Critical: Proper torque is essential for safety. Under-tightened bolts can fail in off-road or recovery situations.
6

Install Accessories (Optional)

Winch installation: If installing winch, mount to bumper winch plate before final tightening.

D-rings: Install D-ring shackles in provided mounting points.

Lights: Mount LED light bar or fog lights if equipped. Route wiring carefully and secure.

7

Final Check

Verify all bolts are torqued. Check bumper alignment and clearances.

Test accessories: If winch or lights installed, test operation before first use.

Reconnect battery and test all vehicle systems.

Post-Installation Checklist

  • All mounting bolts torqued to specification
  • Bumper centered and level
  • Adequate tire clearance at full steering lock
  • D-rings and recovery points secure
