Both share the same 6061-T6 aluminum shell, 850 lb static load, and bolt-on install. The difference is only the side panels.

• Windows — tempered sliding glass on the driver and passenger sides. Better for overlanding, camping, pets, gear you want to see.
• Solid — fully enclosed aluminum panels. Better for job-site tools or anything you want out of sight and keyed-locked.

If you change your mind later, the side panels are replaceable on most models — contact us for a panel swap kit.

All three cover your truck bed, but they're built for different jobs:

• Tonneau cover — flush with the bed rails. Lightweight (typically 20–50 lb), good for daily driving and weather, limited cargo security.
• Bed cap (what we build) — mid-height aluminum shell. Full perimeter sealing, keyed locks, load-rated roof. Built for gear hauling, overlanding, and job-site duty.
• Camper shell — full vertical bed enclosure with stand-up or sit-up clearance. Heavier (typically 100–300 lb), designed primarily for sleeping inside the bed.

If you mainly need weather protection and security for cargo, a bed cap is the right tool.

No. Aluminum does not rust — corrosion resistance is inherent to the material, which is one of the main reasons we build with it instead of steel or fiberglass.

The shell is finished in a powder-coated black, which protects against UV chalking and surface scratches. Even if the powder-coat gets scuffed at a job site, the aluminum underneath stays sound.

The bed cap roof is rated for 850 lb static (parked, weight not moving) and 450 lb dynamic (driving). That's enough for most two-person rooftop tents and a sleeping load.

Important: rooftop tents typically need crossbars to spread the load. Verify your specific tent's mounting requirements and combined weight (tent + sleepers + gear) stays under the dynamic rating while driving. If you're unsure, email us your tent model and we'll review.

Every cap ships with keyed-alike locks at all 4 access points — rear tailgate door plus the side window or panel locks. One key opens everything.

The Windows version uses tempered sliding glass on both driver and passenger sides. The glass is tinted for privacy and to reduce interior heat from sun exposure.

Sliding panels open for ventilation — useful when hauling pets, drying gear after a wet ride, or keeping airflow during summer parking.

Bed liners (drop-in or spray-in) are compatible — the cap mounts to the bed rails above the liner.

Tonneau covers vary by model. Folding and roll-up tonneaus generally need to be removed before installing a bed cap, since the cap covers the same area. If you want to keep both for different use cases, the side panels and rear door of the cap are designed to be removable. Email us your tonneau model if you need clearance verification.

Because the cap is large and heavy, freight delivery requires a signature. The carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery window once it reaches your local terminal.

Glass, gaskets, locks, and gas struts — these are wear components and carry a 1-year warranty. If anything ever fails outside warranty, we'll quote replacement parts at cost.
